About Company
Background
Tuel Jewelers was established in 1945 by
Certified Watchmaker and Jeweler, Roy P. Tuel, as a watch repair
shop taking in mostly Railroad Watch Repair and Certification. As
the years past, Tuel Jewelers expanded into a full service jewelry
store offering watch, jewelry and silver repair along with retail

Jewelers of America (JA), Virginia Jewelers Association (VJA)
Gemological Institute of America (GIA) Alumni Association,
GIA-Washington, DC Alumni Association, Horological Association of

Meet Our
Staff
Mrs. Frances G. Loose, owner, began working at Tuel
Jewelers after graduation from Meriwether Lewis High School in 1953.
She was hired as the bookkeeper, but soon began to assist the
watchmakers with materials and fitting parts. She attended Jefferson
Business School to complete her business education, and she learned
the jewelry business from the ground up. After purchasing the
business in 1975, she has maintained the same level of quality
service that Tuel Jewelers has always been known for. Mrs. Loose
holds a Diamonds Certificate from Gemological Institute of America
(GIA).
Mrs. Mary Loose DeViney is the oldest daughter of
Mrs. Frances G. Loose. She grew up in the jewelry business working
after school and summers at Tuel Jewelers. Mary Loose graduated from
Albemarle High School in 1982, and after receiving her Bachelor of
Science in Business Administration with a concentration in
Accounting from Mary Washington College, she returned to Tuel
Jewelers. Mary Loose holds certicates from Jewelers of America (JA):
Counter Intelligence, Jewelry 101, Certified Sales Professional
(CSP), Certified Senior Sales Professional (CSSP), Certified
Management Professional (CMP), and Certified Senior Management
Professional (CSMP). She has formal appaisal training by completing
the Jewelers Board of Appraisal Review/Jewelers Vigilance Committee
Appraisal Basics and the extensive Anna Miller's Master Valuer
Program/California Institute of Jewelry Training and Korean Jewelry
Institute Registered Master Valuer. She has a certificate in Swiss
Pocketwatch Repair from the Mid-Atlantic Horological Symposium held
at the Maritime Institute of Technology & Graduate Studies and
she has courses in lost wax casting and stone carving. Mary Loose
holds certificates in Graduate Diamonds, Colored Stones and Pearls
from Gemological Institute of America (GIA), and she is currenly in
the Graduate Gemologist Program. Mary Loose volunteers with the
Chamber of Commerce, National Federation of Independent
Businesses-Virginia and local civic groups.
Mrs. Frieda
Loose-Wagner is the youngest daughter of Mrs. Frances G. Loose. She
grew up in the jewelry business working after school and summers at
Tuel Jewelers. Frieda graduated from Heritage Christian School in
1987 and attended Piedmont Virginia Community College. Frieda holds
a Diamonds Certificate from Gemological Institute of America (GIA).
Frieda volunteers with local civic groups.
Tuel Jewelers has
a host of certified watchmakers, jewelers, silversmiths, stone
cutters, and hand engravers to serve our customers.

Jewelry Repair
Tuel Jewelers offers expert jewelry repair
service. We repair gold, silver and platinum jewelry items. We
repair all types of jewelry items such as ring resizing,
restoration, stone replacement, resetting and remounting. We can
recut stones and we offer limited custom design. We can also repair
many older antique pieces so they can be worn and enjoyed.
Watch Repair
Tuel Jewelers offers expert watch and small
clock repair service. We repair all types of watches, both quartz
and mechanical. We offer cleaning and adjusting, restoration,
crystal replacment, as well as watchband adjustment and replacment.
Battery replacement for watches, clocks and personal data
assistants, is usually completed while you wait. Custom
Jewelry Design and Fabrication
Tuel Jewelers offers Mother's Rings, Family
Rings, High School Class Rings, College Class Rings, Military
Service Rings, and Family Crest Rings. We make custom name plates,
pendants, pins/brooches and rings for ladies and gentlemen. We also
can remount wedding sets and reset or create jewelry using your
stones. Gift Certificates
Tuel Jewelers has a gift certifcate program.
Tuel Jewelers participates in the Charlottesville Regional Chamber
of Commerce Gift Certificate Program and the Downtown Business
Association of Charlottesville Gift Certificate Program. We accept
the Visa/Master Card Gift Card. "While-You-Wait" Jewelry
Cleaning
Tuel Jewelers offers jewelry and silver
cleaning for a fee. Miscellaneous Services
Tuel Jewelers offers free gift wrap for your
purchase. We offer limited delivery for a fee. During the months of
November and December, we are open 9am-5pm Monday through Saturday,
and during November and December only, we offer free engraving of a
Name or Initial or Date on any item purchased from us. back to top

Policies and
Programs
Return and exchange
policy
All returns, refunds, credits and exchanges
must be made within 30 days of purchase with the original receipt.
Merchandise must be in the same box and condition in which it was
sold. Layaway Program
Tuel Jewelers offers a layaway program with no
fee. A down payment of 20% of the total amount of the merchandise is
due when the layaway is started, and a payment is expected every
month. There is no refund on layaways after 30 days, only store
credit. Corporate Gifts Program
Tuel Jewelers has an active corporate gifts
